BUSIA DISTRICT I URN: The National Resistance Movement-NRM party treasurer, Nekesa Barbra Oundo, has urged the newly elected members of Parliament, MPs, to focus on ensuring the development of Busia district.
In her address as chief guest in the Thanksgiving ceremony for the victory of John Paul Wandera held on Saturday at OlympAfrica National Youth Centre in Dabani subcounty, Barbra urged the legislators to get united and always have one voice to present issues of Busia.
The celebration started with the mass that was graced by the Dabani Catholic parish priest, Rev. Fr. Raymond Mukoyonzo, at Mayombe primary school playground. NRM’s party treasurer, Barb Nekesa Oundo, emphasized putting the ruling NRM party manifesto at the forefront and always sensitizing residents to be well conversant with most of the government programs.
The Ex-Minister of East Africa Community Affairs, Julius Maganda, the member of parliament for Samia Bugwe South, said that they have managed to come up with an association as a unifying factor for all the legislators in the district that aims at raising their voices to cause development in the area.
He said that there has been a lack of unity whereby every legislator could lobby alone and even infighting among the elected leaders, an act he says they are struggling to eliminate. John Paul Wandera, the MP for Samia Bugwe North Constituency, said that there’s still a big challenge of darkness and low performance in education, an area he said that are of his priorities.
Rev Raymond Mukoyonzo, the Dabani parish Catholic priest, in his address during the mass, urged the newly elected leaders to desist from discrimination, remain united, and always be mindful of helping the needy so that they can get more blessings from God.
John Charles Namayindi, the Busia district LCV chairman, said that the decision of area legislators to unite by forming an association with the purpose of raising their voices will help to simplify their work by lobbying for the district.
He pledged to copy the same and bring it to the district level so that they shall always have one voice that will help to change the face of Busia district. According to Namayindi, he has now focused on ensuring that there’s recruitment of substantive civil servants to help progress in service delivery.
