Presenting the country’s position, the Chairperson, Dr. Henry Mwebesa, said the reforms must…
KAMPALA I URN: The Democratic Party (DP) President, Norbert Mao, has insisted on his bid for the post of Speaker of the 12th Parliament, saying he wants to rescue Parliament from what he described as a “crisis of confidence” and restore institutional integrity. He denied that it’s about political arithmetic. Addressing journalists at the party headquarters in Kampala on Tuesday, Mao said that speakership should be leadership with purpose, not projects. “This time, Mao,” he repeatedly declared before supporters and reporters, framing himself as the only candidate capable of rebuilding public trust in Parliament after months of criticism over corruption,…

KAMPALA I URN: The opposition Forum for Democratic Change-FDC has accused President Yoweri Museveni of presiding over what it described as a “40-year corruption enterprise,” arguing that recent investigations into former Speaker Anita Among are politically selective rather than a genuine fight against corruption. Speaking during a media briefing at the party headquarters in Najjanankumbi on Monday, FDC Vice Chairperson Centenary Robert Franco said, “Selective prosecution is not justice. Museveni is not fighting corruption. He is managing who among the corrupt retains his protection and who does not.” Franco said Among’s wealth accumulation, including hospitals, schools, sports facilities, luxury vehicles,…
AMUDAT I URN: More mothers in the Karamoja sub-region are choosing to deliver at health facilities instead of with traditional birth attendants, but health workers say staffing shortages are pushing facilities to the breaking point. Similar trends are being reported at Kosike Health Centre III in Amudat and Moruita Health Centre II in Nakapiripirit. Jane Twijukye, hospital administrator at Amudat Hospital, said that they started…
