KAPCHORWA DISTRICT I URN: Police in Kapchorwa are investigating alleged suicide by a man by hanging following reported domestic allegedly misunderstandings with his spouse. The deceased has been identified as Fred Kamutya, a resident of Tabagon Cell, West Division in Kapchorwa Municipality. GULU CITY I URN: Police in Aswa West are hunting for a group of assailants who clobbered a Gulu University laboratory technician to death in the early hours of Friday in Gulu City. Police identified the deceased as Christopher Nyeko, 40, a Laboratory Assistant at the University Health Center. Nyeko was attacked and killed at around 5:40 a.m. near St. Peter’s Catholic Church, close to the university’s main campus in Forest Cell, Pece Prisons Ward, in Laroo-Pece Division. Parliament has significantly reduced physical attendance for this year’s State of the Nation Address as a precaution against Ebola. The government reduced its net borrowing or fiscal deficit in the month of April, amidst the global supply disruptions and lower revenue collections. According to the Ministry of Finance, net borrowing (the extra money the government had to borrow after accounting for all its cash inflows and outflows) for government operations during April 2026 resulted in a fiscal deficit of of 264.5 billion shillings.
